Landlord insurance: what do you need?
Landlord insurance covers a property you let out: the building, your contents in it, property owners’ liability and often loss of rent. A standard home policy usually does not cover a let property.
Tenant type matters
Families, professionals, students and benefit tenants can be rated differently. Be accurate.
HMOs
Houses in multiple occupation need cover written for that use.
Malicious damage by tenants
Not always included as standard. Ask if you want it.
Empty periods
Many policies restrict cover after 30 to 60 days empty.
